    05Materials and finishes

Made for our heat, our damp and our termites.

A kitchen in Jamaica has a hard life. Here is what we build with, and why.

Samples laid out on a workbench: painted cabinet doors in white, sage, navy and charcoal, a piece of mahogany, three countertop chips and brass handles
The samples we bring to your measure.
    • Boxes that do not mind water

Moisture-resistant board with every edge sealed. Base cabinets stand on legs, so a wet floor or a leak never soaks in.

    • Treated against termites

All board and timber is treated before we cut it. Solid mahogany comes from managed local sources.

    • Paint that lasts

Doors are sprayed in our own booth with a hard-wearing finish you can wipe clean. Any colour you like, or one of our five.

    • Fittings that keep working

Strong hinges and drawers that pull all the way out. Every cabinet has a 5-year guarantee.

    06More than kitchens

Wardrobes, vanities and fittings for business.

    • Built-in wardrobes

Floor to ceiling, so there is no dusty gap on top. Shelves, drawers and rails laid out the way you dress.

      From J$240,000 for a 6 ft wardrobe

    • Bathroom vanities

Made to fit odd corners and old plumbing. Sealed inside and out, because bathrooms are wet.

From J$95,000 with the top and basin

    • For shops, offices and clinics

      We build for businesses too:

      • Service counters for shops, pharmacies and cafés
      • Reception desks for clinics and credit unions
      • Staff kitchens and tea rooms for offices
      • Display shelving and storage rooms

We can work evenings and weekends, so you stay open.

Is the price on the website the real price?

It is a guide, so you know roughly what to plan for. Your real price comes after we measure, in writing, before you pay anything. It only changes if you change the design.

How long does a new kitchen take?

Most kitchens take 5 to 7 weeks from the day you approve the drawing to the day we finish fitting. You can keep using your old kitchen until the day we install.

    How do I pay?

In three parts: 40% when you approve the drawing, 50% when the cabinets are ready to deliver, and the last 10% when the job is done and you are happy. Bank transfer, card or manager’s cheque.

Will the cabinets stand up to damp and termites?

Yes. We use moisture-resistant board, seal every edge, treat against termites and stand the base cabinets on legs, so a wet floor or a leak under the sink does not ruin them.

My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Very few walls are. We measure carefully and fit filler pieces on site, so the cabinets look straight and the doors close properly.

Do you do the plumbing and electrical work?

We disconnect and reconnect your sink and appliances. For new pipes or wiring, we bring in a plumber and a licensed electrician we have worked with for years, and give you their price up front.
